your life was precious to us...we
will press on for justice.
I remember the first time I saw you May 27 2009, you were such a sweet,
sweet girl nuzzling your head into my leg. You were also protecting two
of your younger siblings with your body from Mother Nature where ya'll had
been left in a kennel with no shelter, food, . or water. AWA bought you
a house and provided food and water for the three of you. On July 5th 2009 I saw you again, burned and brutally aboused
in critical condition. You were blind and you beige coat now singed with patches of dark brown and pink showing through
areas where fur once covered. Your lungs were also damaged from the abuse. We rushed you to Carolina Veternary
Specialists in Charlotte where the emergency room vet had never seen this kind of abuse before.
On July 6th I saw you again for the last time. This time I
held your precious face and kissed you as your gentle soul crossed over
into eternal paradise where no one would ever harm you again. Your broken,
burned, and abused body could not heal so the decision was made to end your
suffering. AWA and CVS felt that this was the most humane and kindest thing
to do for precious Coco. The Shelby Star featured Coco's story on January
24 2010 AWA contacted Crime stoppers about offering a reward for the arrest
and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime. This
spurred support from the community as a result the Coco Memorial Fund was
created to specifically take tips regarding animal abuse, Coco's
Crimes Stopper Reward is now up to $2,700.00 If you wish to
add to the reward please contact the AWA at 704-487-6555.
If you have information regarding Coco's abuse call anonymously 704-481-TIPS.
AWA held Blessing of the Animals on the uptown square in Shelby on October
4 2010. This event was to honor past and present pets and to bring awareness
of animal abuse prevalent in our community and beyond. A special segment
of the ceremony was dedicated to Coco...
